There are many types of anti-anxiety medication since drugs are usually the first to use when suffering from an intense and unexpected panic attack. However, tranquilizers represent just a temporary relief method that can only be used in perfect safety for a very short period of time, due to the high risk of side effects. Here are some of the unpleasant and sometimes paradoxical adverse reactions related with the administration of panic medication in general. While the main benefit from their use is the state of calm and relaxation, sometimes drugs can relax you to the extent that you feel drowsy all the time.

Slow reflexes, poor coordination and fatigue are typical anti anxiety presription side effects resulting from the drugs blocking some specific chemical secretion in the brain. Some people have even reported dizziness, confusion, disorientation and impaired thinking, not to mention the impossibility to operate machines and drive. The extensive use of anti-anxiety medication can also cause depression with or without suicidal feelings. Some reactions to anti-anxiety medication are truly paradoxical. For instance, tranquilizers are supposed to induce calm and relaxation, but an increase of the irritability and agitation level has sometimes been signaled out. Plus, mania, hostility and even rage have been noticed in some cases. The severest forms of side effects include hallucinations and aggressive behaviors, which, although rare, remain very dangerous. More than half of the peculiar reactions to anti-anxiety drugs has been reported with children or the elderly, as well as with patients with developmental disabilities.

Therefore, the choice of the treatment requires utmost care and it usually involves the use of a complementary therapy rather than the administration of drugs. Anti-anxiety medication only reduces or stops the symptoms without bringing an improvement to  the health condition in any way. The problem or the trigger that generates the panic attacks remains lurking at the back of the mind, somehow kept under control, and once you cease taking the medication, anxiety will be back all over again. Therefore, all the treatment efforts should be directed towards proper diagnosis and identification of the causes behind the disorder.

When dealing with an anxiety attack, you’ll discover that this is can be a health issue that is not so easy to solve.  People who want to stop anxiety attacks often find that they feel embarrassed or ashamed of this condition, but the truth is that there is nothing to be ashamed of. D. Remove stimulants
When you are in a place where it is easy to get worked up and to feel as though everything is happening too fast, think about what you can do when to slow things down a little bit.  If you regularly drink things like coffee and soda, you’ll find that it might be time to really stop and figure out if you really need them, or if they are serving you poorly.  While there is a process where you will go through some caffeine withdrawal, it will take less time than you think.
